DRUUNA is a heavy metal band formed in Chicago in 2024 by lead guitarist “Fast” Eddie Castillo and ex-Witchbanger rhythm guitarist (((Oms. They recruited current Reivers bass player “Lazer” Dave Frush and local Chicago drummer Nate Chevalier to round out the rhythm section. The wheels were in motion and burning the proverbial rubber. Songs were crafted and refined over the next few months with great success. After deciding to move forward as yet another instrumental band, and agonizing over a name, Oms came up with the ultimate homage to HEAVY METAL magazine, choosing the name of a staple 70’s character “Druuna”. Then, unexpectedly, the final piece of the puzzle fell into place, in the form of singer Wiebe Ophorst. His melodic singing and sick screaming styles were exactly what was missing. His vocals took this project to the next level, and they are now exploring this new chemistry with every session together, be it at the practice space, or their next live show. Druuna’s riff heavy music is influenced by many different styles of metal, stoner rock, desert, psychedelic, and doom. They recently completed the recording of their debut album at Chicago’s iconic Electrical Audio, and it will finally be available on VINYL as of August 21st.
