Brainiac spent the 90s carving their own path directly through every typical musical trope, but just as their trajectory had poised them to present their maniacal vision of hissing electro-punk to the mainstream, the death of lead singer Timmy Taylor cut their story short. In the wake of this tragic event, many artists (such as Trent Reznor, The Mars Volta, Muse, The Flaming Lips, the Breeders, Mogwai, etc) have espoused the band’s lasting influence and relevance as trailblazers whose music still sounds fresh and ahead of its time even today.

Post-punk trio Plum formed in 2022 when Jeff Kelley, Karissa Talanian, and Heather Perry bonded over their shared appreciation for no wave, krautrock, and indie sleaze. The band crafts a distinctive sound blending upbeat danceable grooves, dissonant riffs, and melodic bassliness. Their songwriting explores themes such as modern alienation, desire, and obsession.

Exit Angles is here and now punk ROCK music formed in Wheeling, WV, in 2021 by Jay Demko (ex singer/guitarist of the post hardcore band Lincoln). Their sound draws from a wide range of influences, including 90s post hardcore bands such as Lungfish and Unwound, as heard on their debut album, A Sickness and a Fire, released in March 2023 by Blind Rage Records out of Dayton, OH, and mixed by J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines).
