ONS OF RA\nHailing from the underground scene of Chicago\, this eclectic e
nsemble draws inspiration from avant garde music\, classic jazz fusion wit
h post-progressive sensibilities\, infusing their music with cosmic vibrat
ions and experimental fervor. Drummer Michael Rataj lays an energetic and
ever-shifting rhythmic framework for tenor saxophonist/bassist Keith Wakef
ield and guitarist Erik Oldman to weave angular\, contrapuntal melodies wi
th ethereal textures augmented by loops and synthesizer explorations. Sons
of Ra are not merely a band\; they are sonic sorcerers\, weaving spells o
f experimental brilliance that transcend the boundaries of traditional gen
res. \n\nThey’ve shared the stage with such artists as Stu Hamm\, Sonar
\, Chester Thompson &amp\; Alphonso Johnson\, and Consider the Source. \n
\nSons of Ra released their EP “Cognitive” in 2020 and are currently i
n production for a six-part suite “Tropic of Cancer” and their first f
ull-length release “Standard Deviation”\, both planned for release in
 2024. \n\nPersonnel\nErik Oldman: Guitar/Bass/Synth\nKeith Wakefield: Bas

\n\nThree years following the release of their critically acclaimed second
EP “Shoebox Companion”\, Chicago’s noise/math-rock trio LOWER AUTOM
ATION now return with their first full-length album. Self-titled this new
effort arrived July 12 via Zegema Beach Records and runs 10 tracks in leng
th\, with Lower Automation constantly pushing the envelope by offering an
 explosive\, frenetic and inventive concoction of mathcore\, noise-rock\, m
etal and punk.\n\n\n\nGRAPHICS\n\n\n4-piece instrumental ensemble. stops

 A’S QUESTIONABLE DECISIONS\n\n\n\n\n\nPaul Abella’s Questionable Decis
ions is  an exciting new ensemble consisting of four of the Chicago Jazz
scene’s most unique musicians. All four of these musicians have played i
n myriad situations across multiple genres\, and their flexibility is on f
ull display whenever they start playing. They’re a band upholding a tra
dition of Jazz as subversive party music. Drawing inspiration from Eddie H
 arris\, Medeski\, Martin &amp\; Wood\, The Bad Plus\, and Lester Bowie\, t
hey fuse Pop melodies\, Jazz harmonies\, Brazilian\, Afro-Cuban and Funk
rhythms\, jammy improvisations with punk ferocity.\n\nOr\, as one friend o
nce said\, “someone’s going to have to invent a whole new genre just t
 o describe you guys.”\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/10559
